 Rita Rodriguez is working along side of her husband, Pastor Ralph Rodriguez, as his volunteer secretary in the Community Relations Department of New Testament Baptist Church. She has been a kindergarten, 5 th grade, and senior high Sunday school teacher, camp counselor, the girls' commander of AWANAS, a counselor at the Women's Detention Center, a worker in young the married class, and participant in ladies visitation.
Ralph and Rita have two sons. Derek Michael, who is 28, is a paramedic firefighter for the City of Miami. David Stephen, who is 25, graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a degree in Criminology. At present, he is battling lymphoblastic lymphoma cancer. They appreciate the prayers on his behalf from people all over the country and are praising God for his continued healing. He was a varsity football coach, summer camp counselor, and assistant to the DCS athletic director. Rita's mother, Molly Whiteman, is also a long time member of NTBC. They have been attending the church since 1975.
Her ministry responsibilities include helping her husband with: the Connections young married Sunday school class, church baptisms, hospital visits, Tuesday Night visitation, pre-wedding counseling, and helping Pastor Ralph bridge the gap between the church and school with the teachers and families of Dade Christian School. She is a Facilitator for Ministry by Intention.
